If you have irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), you are not alone, IBS is common with prevalence estimated at 10% to 15%. Yet many people remain undiagnosed and unaware that their symptoms indicate a medically recognized disorder.

There are several tips that can be given during the event, including:
- Cook homemade meals using fresh ingredients when you can.
- Keep a diary of what you eat and any symptoms you get (try to avoid things that trigger your IBS).
- Try to find ways to relax.
- Get plenty of exercise.
- Do not eat too quickly.
- Do not eat lots of fatty, spicy or processed foods.
- Do not drink lots of fizzy drinks.
