World Kidney Day
​​​Overview:
On March 14th, the World Kidney Day is observed worldwide to raise awareness of the importance of kidneys to our overall health, their protection against diseases, as well as screening the high-risk individuals.

Facts:
  • 850 million people around the world are now estimated to have kidney diseases from various causes.
  • 10% of the population worldwide is affected by chronic kidney disease (CKD).
  • CKD ranked 18th in the list of causes of total number of deaths worldwide in 2010.
  • By Allah’s Grace, CKD can be treated. With early diagnosis and treatment, it's possible to slow or stop the progression of kidney diseases.

  • Locally: Rajab 7th, 1440H.
Objectives:
  • Raise awareness about the importance of healthy lifestyle and its primary role in the prevention of many types of kidney diseases.
  • Make screening for high-risk individuals, such as diabetics and others.
  • Urge not to take over-the-counter medicines to maintain kidneys.
  • Encourage to avoid soft drinks and energy drinks.
  • Highlight the importance of taking preventive measures for all people everywhere around the world.
