June 26, every year, marks the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which was first set by the UN General Assembly in 1987. In fact, drug abuse and addiction are reckoned one of the most dangerous psychological and social problems, which have negative repercussions on the physical and psychological health of individuals, as well as on their financial stance. Statistics of the United Nations International Drug Control Program have shown that 230 million people worldwide are using drugs, while Al-Amal Complex for Mental Health has issued the following statistics regarding drug users in the Kingdom:

Objectives and General Messages:
Raising social awareness regarding the problems of drugs, i.e. their health, social, psychological and economic bad impacts, as well as providing more focus for the link between drug addiction and health deterioration.
Increasing awareness among community members concerning drug trafficking and its negative impacts on the society.
Activating cooperation among the relevant organizations against drug addicting, trafficking and using.
Empowering the society to combat drug addiction in all the state's sectors.
