Each year we commemorate World Tuberculosis (TB) Day on March 24th to raise the public awareness about the devastating health, social and economic consequences of tuberculosis (TB) and to step up efforts to end the global TB epidemic.
Facts:
- Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the top 10 causes of death worldwide.
- In 2017, 10 million people fell ill with TB.
- In 2017, one million children fell ill with TB worldwide.
- Globally, the TB incidence rate is falling by roughly 2% a year.
- An estimated 54 million lives were saved through TB diagnosis and treatment between 2000 and 2017.

- Raise awareness about TB and ways of its transmission.
- Take prevention procedures against the disease.
- Renew the political and social commitment to achieve further progress in eradicating the disease.
