Introduction:
World Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Day takes place every year on May 30th. MS is the most common neurological disorder among young adults and may affect different parts of the central nervous system, including the spinal cord and nerves. It may cause a wide range of symptoms, including problems with vision, arm or leg movement, sensation or balance.
Facts:
MS is a chronic condition that can sometimes cause serious disability, although it can occasionally be mild.
MS is an autoimmune disease, when the immune system malfunctions and attacks healthy body tissues.
MS is at least two to three times more common in women than in men.
Objectives:
Challenging social barriers and stigma that can leave people affected by MS feeling lonely and isolated.
Building communities that support and nurture people affected by MS.
Promoting self-care and healthy living with MS.
