Communications and Data Centers
The communications and Data Centers supporting all hospitals, primary health care centers, and the Ministry’s systems and offices are of high importance to the information technology infrastructure, server, and capacity, in addition to the ability to manage the operations and security and privacy protocols necessary to support the Ministry of Health’s important business systems, as they are all important. It is very necessary to be able to implement e-health with a high degree of accuracy, safety, and responsibility.
Information technology principles which guide decision making in data center facilities and locations include:
A network of high-availability data centers will be established to support all service points of the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom. It will be developed over the years when the e-health strategy is implemented.
The data centers will be connected to a high-quality and secure communications network. These centers will be connected to all hospitals, primary health care center laboratories, specialized clinics, and all Ministry of Health offices. In addition, pharmacies, ambulances, and health facilities not affiliated with the Ministry of Health will eventually be connected, such as National Guard Health Affairs, clinics, hospitals, and private pharmacies, so that clinical data can be shared.
Despite the benefits of sharing patient clinical data, there will be strict security measures, as access will be given to doctors and authorized service providers for the purpose of viewing only, and the choice will be up to the patient to determine the level of protection for his sensitive data.
