Overview
International Children's Day was established for the first time in 1954 AD, and it is celebrated on November 20 of each year. To promote international cooperation and awareness among children around the world, and to improve the welfare of children. November 20th is an important date. The United Nations General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1959 AD, and the Child Rights Charter was signed in 1989 AD.
Objectives:
- Provide an environment where all children are enrolled in school, safe from harm, and able to fulfill their potential and dreams.
- Promoting international interdependence and awareness among children all over the world.
- Increasing awareness of children's rights and improving children's welfare.
Facts:
- The number of deaths among children under the age of five has decreased since 1989 to more than 50%.
- The percentage of children suffering from undernourishment has decreased since 1990 to almost half of the percentage.
- 2.6 billion children have safe drinking water compared to 1990.
- 262 million children are out of school.
- 650 million girls are married before reaching the age of eighteen.
- out of every 4 children will live in areas with limited water resources by 2040.
