- Emphasizing the need to transform food systems to deliver better health in a sustainable way to prevent most foodborne illnesses.
Facts:
- Safe food is one of the most important guarantors of good health.
- Unsafe food is the cause of many diseases and contributes to other poor health conditions, such as poor growth and development, micronutrient deficiencies, non-communicable or communicable diseases, and mental illness.
- Globally, one in ten people contract a foodborne disease each year.
