Overview:
Response time is one of the most effective elements in saving lives of patients and the injured, and based on the words of the Almighty Allah: {and he who saves a life shall be as if he had given life to all mankind} [Surah Al-Ma'idah: 32], to raise public awareness of how first aid can save lives in crisis situations, the IFRC believes that first aid should be accessible to all. It should also be an integral part of community development. Therefore, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies launched the World First Aid Day in 2000, the World First Aid Day, which is celebrated on the second Saturday of September every year.
Objectives:
- Raising awareness on the importance of first aid in saving lives.
- Encouraging learning first aid for all members of society.
- Awareness of the most important home and outdoor accidents, and the first aid method for them.
- Introducing the bodies that provide certified first aid courses.
Facts:
- In just one year, 475,000 Americans died of a heart attack.
- More than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside hospitals each year.
