Health Days 2023

World MS Day

Overview:
World Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Day is celebrated annually on May 30. Multiple sclerosis is known as the most common primary neurological disorder in young people. The disease may affect different parts of the central nervous system, including the spinal cord and nerves. This can cause a wide range of possible symptoms, including problems with vision, arm and leg movement, or sensation and balance.

Objectives:
  • Address the social barriers and stigma that can leave people with MS feeling lonely and isolated.
  • Building communities that support and care for people with multiple sclerosis.
  • Promoting self-care and healthy living with illness in infected persons.
Facts:
  • Multiple sclerosis is a chronic condition that can sometimes cause serious disability, although it can sometimes be mild.
  • Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease, which means that there is a defect in the body's immune system, so the disease targets and attacks healthy body cells.
  • Multiple sclerosis occurs three times more frequently in women than in men.
