Overview
Skin cancer - including melanoma as well as basal and squamous cell carcinomas - is the most common type of cancer, and each year the month of May is set aside for Skin Cancer Awareness.
Objectives:
- Raise awareness of ways to screen for skin cancer early.
- Raise awareness of prevention methods.
- Share facts on skin cancer.
Facts:
- Skin cancer is generally more common in men, but before the age of 50, rates are higher in women than in men.
- If skin cancer is diagnosed and treated early, it can often be cured.
