Overview
Bladder cancer occurs when cells of the bladder begin to get out of control. Most tumors develop on the inner layer of the bladder, and some may grow in the deeper layers of the bladder. When cancer grows through these layers into the wall, it becomes difficult to treat. Tumors grow in inner layers of kidneys, ureters, and urethra (similar cancers can occur in these areas), although less frequently.

Facts:
- Each year, more than 570,000 people are diagnosed with bladder cancer and 1.7 million people find themselves living with this condition.
- It is the tenth most diagnosed cancer
- The thirteenth cause of death from cancer worldwide.
- Timely diagnosis provides a significant increase in the chance of long-term survival and quality of life.
