Introduction:
World Heart Day is celebrated every year on 29 September, and this year's celebration is under the theme «Power your Life», with the aim of highlighting the importance of preventing heart disease, reducing its prevalence around the world and enjoying good heart health.
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for 31% of global deaths. However, by raising awareness and focusing on the importance of prevention, it will be possible to control the CVDs and the risk factors that cause them.
Facts:
- High blood pressure (hypertension) is one of the most important risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD).
- Breathing in someone else's smoke (secondhand smoking) is very harmful. Non-smokers who live with smokers have a higher risk of developing heart disease than those without a smoker.
- Saturated fats can cause heart diseases because they raises the level of cholesterol in your blood.

Objectives:
- Encouraging adoption of healthy lifestyle and healthy eating habits.
- Developing a plan to control smoking and reduce the risk of heart disease.
- Reducing the global prevalence of hypertension.
- Raising awareness about the importance of engaging in physical activity for at least 30 munities a day to reduce the risk of heart diseases.
