Saudi Arabia faces a number of public health challenges, mostly related to constant population growth rate, high average life expectancy and epidemiological transition (i.e. shift from communicable to non-communicable diseases). Such factors and others put pressure on the ability of the Kingdom’s health system to respond to the steady increase in demand, in addition to the large geographical area of the Kingdom.
By virtue of its duties and responsibilities towards citizens' health, MOH is committed to planning, organizing, supervising, financing and monitoring.
As part of its responsibility to raise service levels and extend coverage, and in line with the Kingdom-wide efforts to restructure the overall economy (led by the Ministry of Economy), MOH is seeking to develop a number of initiatives with the private sector, in line with the National Transformation Program (NTP).
