- Smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer, causing about 85% of all cases.
- It ranks ninth in the Kingdom compared to other types of cancer.
- Screening individuals at high risk can allow for early detection of the disease, and significantly improve survival rates.
- Primary prevention (such as tobacco control measures and reducing exposure to environmental risk factors) can reduce lung cancer rates and save lives.
