- Brain and spinal cord tumors can affect all ages, but are more common in older people.
- Increased chances of developing brain cancer include:
- Some brain tumors mainly affect adults, and some appear mostly in children.
- Some genetic conditions increase the risk of developing a brain tumor, including tuberous sclerosis, neurofibromatosis type 1, neurofibromatosis type 2, and Turner syndrome.
- People who have been exposed to a strong type of radiation are more likely to develop brain tumors.
