Overview:
May 30th is celebrated annually as World Multiple Sclerosis Day. Multiplex is the most common primary neurological disorder in young people. The disease may affect different parts of the central nervous system, including the spinal cord and nerves. This can cause a wide range of potential symptoms, including problems with vision, arm and leg movement, or sensation and balance.
Objectives:
- Educating those affected about how to address social barriers and stigma that can make them feel lonely and isolated.
- Supporting and caring for people with multiple sclerosis.
- Promoting self-care and healthy living with the disease in affected people.
Facts:
- Multiple sclerosis may be a chronic condition or sometimes a mild condition
- The immune system of patients with multiple sclerosis targets and attacks healthy body cells
- Multiple sclerosis occurs three times more often in women than in men
