Health Days 2024

World Ovarian Cancer Day

Ovarian cancer is a growth of cells formed in the ovaries. These cells multiply rapidly and can invade and destroy healthy body tissues. When ovarian cancer begins, there may be no noticeable symptoms. When symptoms of ovarian cancer appear, they are usually attributed to other more common medical conditions.

  • Increase awareness about the disease and its prevention.
  • Encourage early screening.
  • The risk of ovarian cancer increases with age. It is more common in older women.
  • If you have relatives with ovarian cancer, you may be at greater risk of developing this disease.
  • Overweight or obesity increases the risk of ovarian cancer.
  • Beginning menstruation at an early age, menopause at a late age, or both, may increase the risk of ovarian cancer.
