World Bladder Cancer Month
Overview:
Bladder cancer is a common type of cancer that begins in the cells of the bladder. Bladder cancer is usually diagnosed in its early stages, and at this stage it is highly curable.
Risk factors for bladder cancer include: smoking, advanced age, men are more susceptible than women, exposure to certain chemicals, chronic cystitis, previous cancer, and family history.
 
Objectives:
  • Raise community awareness about bladder cancer and ways of its prevention.
  • Encourage early screening and education about its benefits.
  • Direct people with bladder cancer to seek support and treatment.
Facts:
  • Bladder cancer ranks as the tenth most common type of cancer.
  • Every year, about 600,000 people are diagnosed with bladder cancer worldwide, and more than 200,000 people die due to this disease.
  • The thirteenth leading cause of death from cancer worldwide.
  • It ranks second in prevalence in Asia.
