Over its past seven editions, the "Ada'a Health" Award launched by the Ministry of Health has established its position as one of the most prominent national initiatives for measuring performance in health facilities and motivating them toward excellence. It operates through an integrated ecosystem based on data and measurement indicators, governed by strict control and specialized evaluation, contributing to improved healthcare quality and enhanced prevention to support the objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Program derived from Saudi Vision 2030.
Previous editions witnessed continuous expansion in the award's scope, tracks, and criteria, keeping pace with the development and national priorities of the health sector. This has fostered positive competition between public and private facilities, embedded a culture of transparency and continuous improvement, encouraged integration among healthcare providers, and promoted the adoption of best practices and innovative solutions.
The award relies on an integrated governance structure that ensures efficient procedures, transparent results, and fair evaluation—starting from setting standards and indicators, through stages of evaluation and independent judging, to reviewing and approving results according to clear methodologies and precise professional criteria. This enhances the award's credibility and institutional maturity, reflected in the Ada'a Health Center receiving an international recognition certificate from the international Sterling Foundation.
The award's impact extends beyond honoring outstanding entities to reflecting positively on the performance and results of the health system. It has contributed to evaluating the performance of more than 2,700 health facilities and producing over 70,000 analytical performance indicator results.
The Ministry of Health, in strategic partnership with the National Health Insurance Center, is preparing to launch the eighth edition of the award, with the crowning event set to take place this September. This edition marks a new phase of institutional excellence, introducing an advanced evaluation methodology based on unifying evaluation and performance measurement standards, and leveraging data more broadly to identify and track improvement opportunities—shifting evaluation from tracking results to supporting facilities in continuously improving their performance.
The eighth edition covers six main tracks: Emergency Care, Primary Care, Lifesaving Care, Maternity Care, and Public Health Promotion & Disease Prevention, alongside the Health Service Efficiency track introduced with its new methodology to boost service delivery efficiency, enhance financial sustainability, reinforce the concept of health value, and elevate positive competition among facilities.
Through the "Ada'a Health" Award, the Ministry of Health continues to embed a culture of excellence and continuous improvement, motivating health facilities to increase their efficiency and service quality, raising them to globally competitive levels to achieve a sustainable health impact.
