Health Days 2020
Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast cancer occurs when some breast cells begin to grow abnormally. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, it does occur in men as well. Since 2006, October is International Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

In 2018, nearly 2,088,000 new breast cancer cases were diagnosed, and 6,260,000 deaths from breast cancer. Currently, there is not sufficient knowledge on the causes of breast cancer, but there is knowledge of risk factors that increase the possibility of developing breast cancer. Therefore, prevention and early detection of the disease remains the cornerstone of breast cancer control. The appearance of lumps does not necessarily mean cancer; it may be due to the presence of cysts, abscesses, or other benign tumors. According to studies in Europe and America, 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.

Raising the public awareness, particularly women, about the risk factors that increase the possibility of developing breast cancer, methods of prevention, the importance of early detection, target groups, location of service center, and providing integrated service to fight breast cancer from detection to treatment.
