Health tips for cardiac patients:
In general, cardiac patient can perform the rituals of Hajj if his health condition is stable, but it is necessary to do the following:
- Refer to the doctor before going for Hajj to assess his health condition.
- Take an adequate amount of medication and store it in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Carry a medical card or a medical report showing the exact condition of the patient and the medications he is taking.
- Not to be subjected to excessive physical exertion, and to use a wheelchair during sa’i and Tawaf when feeling tired, in accordance with the legal licenses.
- Avoid excessive emotions and nervousness, and let one remember that leaving arguments and tolerance are among the characteristics of Hajj and Umrah performers.
- Follow a diet low in fats and salts and adhere to the diet prescribed by the doctor.
- It is preferable for the patient to perform the rituals of Hajj with a group of relatives or friends so that they can help him in the event of any emergency.
You should go to the nearest healthcare center immediately when you feel:
- Any chest pains.
- Pain spreading from the chest to other places such as the left arm or other places (eg: jaw, neck, or stomach).
- shortness of breath.
- Dizzy or unbalanced.
- Excessive sweating.
Health tips for asthmatics:
An asthmatic patient may experience an increase in asthma symptoms and shortness of breath during Hajj or Umrah, due to several reasons:
- The pilgrim is in crowded places, sometimes filled with dust or polluted with smoke emanating from car exhaust.
- Constant stress and motion.
- Pulmonary infection, which may increase due to crowding.
That is why asthma patients are advised to follow the following tips:
- Refer to the doctor before he travels to Hajj to ensure his health and his ability to travel, and to remind him of the steps to be taken when seizures occur.
- Carrying a bracelet around the wrist indicating his name, age, disease diagnosis and type of treatment.
- Take inhalers for asthma in sufficient quantities and store them in an appropriate manner.
- Before doing any physical effort, it is preferable to use a bronchodilator, especially during Tawaf, Sa`y and stoning Jamarat.
- Take enough rest immediately after completing each ritual.
- Avoid overcrowding to avoid seizures, as it is a trigger for asthma.
- Take the initiative to use the inhaler when you feel the symptoms of an asthma attack, with a visit to the nearest health facility or hospital in the event of a severe attack.
Health tips for those with allergy:
In some cases, the symptoms of allergy may increase in people with certain materials in the environment (such as: fumes, dust, foods, chemicals, etc.), which increase during the Hajj or Umrah season. Therefore, it is advised to follow some guidelines to alleviate these health problems:
- Avoid places, times, and actions that trigger allergies (such as: direct exposure to sunlight and crowds).
- The infected person can take with him appropriate anti-allergic drugs (such as pills, nasal sprays, or eye drops) according to medical instructions.
- When the allergy is caused by eating certain foods, the treatment is to avoid eating that food.
- If the pilgrim suffers from hypersensitivity to a certain thing, he must wear an identification bracelet around his wrist indicating this and inform the campaign doctor about it, to facilitate dealing with his condition when an allergy attack occurs.
Health tips for kidney patients:
- Refer to the doctor to ensure that it is possible to perform Hajj or Umrah and to know the appropriate health instructions.
- Ensure that the prescribed medications are kept in a convenient and easily accessible place.
- Commit yourself to taking medications regularly and on time.
- Take fluids and salts as prescribed by the doctor.
- Avoid exposure to the sun for long periods, to prevent the loss of fluids and salts from the body.
- Do not eat too much meat and protein so as not to affect the function of the kidneys.
Patient with kidney stones:
- It is advised to drink plenty of fluids and avoid the heat of the sun. It is also preferable to perform some rituals after sunset, or to delegate someone else to do so as permitted by the legal licenses.
- Refer to the mission doctor or the nearest health center or hospital when any disorders occur in the body (such as: gastroenteritis or urinary tract infection).
