MoH Urges Pilgrims to Protect Their Feet While in Mina

27 May 2026

The Ministry of Health advised pilgrims to prioritize foot care by inspecting their feet regularly, wearing comfortable footwear, washing and drying their feet thoroughly—especially between the toes—and avoiding walking barefoot. The Ministry emphasized that people with diabetes are among the groups most vulnerable to wounds and foot ulcers, and urged women to wear appropriate socks to help prevent blisters and skin irritation, reducing the risk of walking-related injuries during Hajj.
The Ministry also explained that if a pilgrim suffers an ankle sprain due to a fall while walking, first aid measures include resting as much as possible, avoiding putting weight on the injured foot, applying cold compresses to the affected area, wrapping the ankle with a compression bandage to reduce swelling, elevating the foot, and seeking medical attention if pain or swelling persists.
The Ministry encouraged pilgrims to contact the 937 Call Center for medical assistance or consultations, noting that these recommendations are part of the health awareness services provided by the healthcare system to help ensure pilgrims’ health and safety throughout their Hajj journey.
