Under the patronage of H.E. Fahad Abdulrahman AlJalajel, Minister of Health, the Ministry of Health concluded the 4th International Hereditary Blood Disorders Summit (IHBD 2026), held from 5 to 7 February in Riyadh.
The summit was organized as part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to advance the healthcare system, strengthen scientific research, and support national health policies related to hereditary blood disorders. These efforts contribute to enhancing the quality of healthcare services and align with the goals of the Health Sector Transformation Program under
Saudi Vision 2030.
IHBD 2026 aimed to develop integrated national models of care for hereditary blood disorders, foster the exchange of scientific ability, and encourage innovation in gene therapy and precision medicine. The summit also focused on improving patients’ quality of life through education and sustainable support programs. Key topics included sickle cell disease, thalassemia, and hemophilia, while emphasizing the principle of prevention before treatment and promoting quality-of-life-centered care through the Muhjah 90-Day Care Program.
Through this scientific gathering, the Ministry of Health reaffirmed the importance of unifying national efforts and building an integrated model of care that connects diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. The summit reflected the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening prevention, advancing early detection, and reducing complications through the development of national care pathways and the implementation of best healthcare practices.
The Ministry continues to strengthen the Kingdom’s position as a leading scientific and organizational hub that brings together distinguished experts, decision-makers, and local and international partners in the field of blood disorders. It also is still committed to supporting scientific research and medical innovation to develop advanced future solutions that enhance the quality of life of patients and their families.
