Sports During Ramadan: Boost your health & Avoid Exhaustion


Exercising during fasting is more beneficial to the body. It improves general health, compared to exercising during normal days.

Benefits of Exercising in Ramadan:
  • Increasing heart efficiency.
  • Maintaining fluid balance in the body.
  • Increasing hemoglobin level in the blood.
  • Increasing the use of fats as a source of energy instead of sugar (glucose) during exercise, thus reducing weight and reducing fat mass.
  • Raising the level of good cholesterol and lowering the level of bad cholesterol.
Important Tips to consider when exercising:
  1. ​Consult your doctor if you have any health problems before doing any physical activity.
  2. Exercise in well-ventilated places and in moderate weather.
  3. Consider the body's energy and condition, and do not tire the body and burden it with what it cannot bear.
  4. The best times to exercise in the holy month of Ramadan are:
Two hours after breakfast.
 Between breakfast and suhoor (after Tarawih prayers).
Because the body has finished the digestion and absorption processes and obtained the energy it needs, making it ready to perform better. It is recommended to walk when going to the mosque to perform prayers.

If your fasting period is during the summer, you must consider the high temperatures when exercising. 

First aid in case of heat stress and sunstroke:
  1. Place the patient on his back, move him to a cool place and remove his clothes.
  2. Give sips of cold, slightly salted water if the patient is conscious.
  3. If he loses consciousness, call the Red Crescent.
First Aid for External Bleeding:
Place a bandage on the bleeding site and press for several minutes until the bleeding stops. If it does not stop, you should seek emergency.
