What is vitamin D and what is its importance for prevention of osteoporosis?

It is one of the fat-soluble vitamins, also called the sunshine vitamin, because the body manufactures it when exposed to ultraviolet rays, and sunlight is the most important factor in manufacture of vitamin D in the body through the skin. The vitamin directly causes brittleness and osteoporosis.​
