Minister of Health, H.E. Fahad Abdulrahman AlJalajel, participated in the Healthcare Roundtable Meeting, held during his official visit to Tashkent. The meeting was attended by Her Excellency Tamila Anvarovna Aliyeva, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration for Healthcare Reform; His Excellency Jamshid Khodjaev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan; and His Excellency Eldor Iddilov, Minister of Health of Uzbekistan. The meeting explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation, investment, and knowledge exchange in the healthcare sector between the two countries.
During the meeting, AlJalajel emphasized that the growing relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Uzbekistan, under the guidance of the leadership of both countries, are creating broad opportunities for healthcare partnerships and investment. He highlighted the Kingdom’s achievements under the Health Sector Transformation Program—one of the Saudi Vision 2030 programs—and the promising opportunities it offers for cooperation and knowledge exchange, contributing to the development of healthcare services and the enhancement of quality of life in both countries.
The meeting brought together 75 participants, including senior government officials and representatives from the healthcare and investment sectors in Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan, among them 60 private-sector chief executive officers. Discussions focused on expanding investment partnerships, empowering the private sector, showcasing promising opportunities in the healthcare sector, attracting high-value investments, advancing cooperation in pharmaceutical industries and health technologies, exchanging expertise in healthcare development, digital transformation and innovation, and strengthening sustainable public-private partnerships.
The Minister witnessed the signing of several agreements, memoranda of understanding, and executive programs, reflecting the growing healthcare partnership between the two countries and opening new avenues for cooperation and investment in priority areas.
The agreements included an executive program between Seha Virtual Hospital and the
Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan to cooperate in virtual healthcare, as well as an executive program between the National Health Insurance Center of Saudi Arabia and the State Health Insurance Fund of Uzbekistan covering healthcare financing, training and capacity development, and joint research and studies.
The visit also featured the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Lean Business Services and the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan to advance digital health transformation through advisory support, capacity building, and training in digital health. In addition, the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties signed three memoranda of understanding with the
Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, Tashkent State Medical University, and the Center for Professional Qualification Development of Healthcare Workers in Uzbekistan. These agreements aim to enhance education and training programs, strengthen nursing and primary healthcare competencies, promote continuing professional education, and support the development of the healthcare workforce in both countries.
This comes as part of the Ministry of Health’s efforts to strengthen international cooperation, expand strategic and investment partnerships, and promote knowledge exchange, supporting the objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Program—one of the Saudi Vision 2030 programs—and reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as a global hub for healthcare innovation and a trusted partner in advancing the healthcare sector and expanding investment opportunities.
