Health is one of the fundamental pillars of quality of life. Preventive practices and investment in healthy behaviors are among the most effective ways to maintain health and enhance quality of life across all stages of life. This is reflected in the “Quality Years” concept, which promotes awareness of sustainable healthy habits and preventive healthcare throughout life, supporting the objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Program under
Saudi Vision 2030 to build a vibrant society that enjoys better health and a higher quality of life.
“Quality Years” extends the broader concept of quality of life by emphasizing that the quality of one’s years is defined by health and well-being, not merely by longevity. The initiative encourages prevention through the adoption of sustainable healthy lifestyles across all age groups, including balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, and routine health checkups.
Through its Live Well initiative, the Ministry of Health’s health awareness platform, the Ministry celebrates older adults as the living memory and enduring wisdom of society. Their stories and experiences are highlighted as inspiring examples of “Quality Years”, recognizing their lasting contributions and their role in passing on health and social values across generations, helping foster healthier and more active communities.
In the same context, preventive health efforts have contributed to increasing life expectancy in the Kingdom to 79.7 years, bringing it closer to the
Saudi Vision 2030 target of 80 years. This achievement reflects integrated efforts across the health ecosystem and government entities, including the work of the ministerial committee for Health in All Policies, which has advanced preventive health and early detection programs to improve population health, enhance quality of life, and establish a sustainable preventive healthcare system.
The Ministry of Health continues, in collaboration with the health ecosystem and relevant stakeholders, to strengthen preventive health and early detection initiatives while improving access to healthcare services. These efforts encourage healthier lifestyles and support sustained improvements in public health indicators and quality of life.
