The Ministry of Health (MoH) signed a cooperation agreement at Digital City in Riyadh with the
King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra), represented by its Sync Digital Well-Being Program, to promote digital well-being and enhance mental and behavioral health through technology. The agreement is part of the Live Well initiative and aligns with the objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Program under
Saudi Vision 2030.
The agreement was signed on behalf of MoH by Dr. Ahmed Alammar, Executive Director of the Live Well initiative, and on behalf of Ithra by Dr. Fahad AlBiahi, Head of the Sync Digital Well-Being Program.
The partnership aims to develop and publish joint digital awareness content reflecting approved health messages through videos, podcasts, and educational publications. It also seeks to expand the reach of this content across both organizations’ digital platforms and collaborate on national campaigns and awareness events to strengthen public understanding of digital well-being.
The agreement also includes the exchange of expertise and advisory support in developing awareness content, engaging specialists in educational programs and sessions, and sharing reports and indicators related to audience engagement, reach, and media impact.
Live Well is MoH’s primary health awareness platform and serves as a trusted national source for health education. Through its initiatives, it promotes healthy daily behaviors and encourages balanced lifestyles by providing accessible, evidence-based content covering public health, nutrition, physical activity, sleep health, and mental health.
Dr. AlBiahi stated that the partnership will help reinforce the concept of digital well-being and its direct impact on quality of life and mental health by raising public awareness and enabling individuals to use digital devices in a healthy and balanced way that maximizes benefits while minimizing risks. He highlighted the importance of responsible technology use, citing the 2025 report Generation Alpha: The Reality of Family Life in the Digital Age, which found that 91% of children gain access to digital devices at an early age, resulting in physical, psychological, and social impacts. The report included responses from 7,560 participants across 42 countries, including 755 parents from Saudi Arabia.
The Sync program is one of Ithra’s initiatives dedicated to promoting digital well-being by transforming research-based knowledge into awareness initiatives and educational experiences that empower individuals and communities to use technology safely and responsibly.
