According to Hafr Al-Batin Health Affairs, over the past year (2018) King Khalid General Hospital served 15,231 outpatients at eye clinic and 6,301 outpatients at optical clinic.
“The hospital performed 564 surgeries, including 223 cataracts, 130 strabismus, 40 minor surgeries, 15 pediatric nasolacrimal duct (tear duct), in addition to 156 Lucentis injection surgeries,” stated the Affairs.
The Affairs added that more medical staff in the field of ophthalmology has been attracted, and the equipment required for eye clinics has been secured at King Khalid Hospital and the Central Hospital. Also, an electronic link was established between Maternity and Children Hospital and King Khalid Eye Specialist Hospital-Riyadh for retinal infarction treatment.
