King Fahad Hospital - Madinah: Two Successful Kidney Transplants

In collaboration with King Fahad Specialist Hospital - Dammam, a specialist team at King Fahad Hospital - Madinah has successfully conducted two kidney transplants for two ladies suffering from chronic kidney failure; thus, requiring regular renal dialysis. The first surgery was performed when the patient's daughter donated her kidney to her mother, after all due medical and lab tests, and after both samples were found identical. Thank Allah the surgery was successful. The second case was for a girl with renal failure. Her paternal uncle expressed his readiness to donate his kidney to his niece. After due tests, both sample were found identical; thus, ending her suffering. After surgery, both patients and donors were discharged from hospitals in good health by Allah's Grace.

These cases number 22 and 23 since the inception of joint collaboration program between King Fahad Hospital - Madinah and  King Fahad Specialist Hospital - Dammam in 2015, which has proven 100% successful.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has launched recently the (e-health) application to facilitate access to visual medical consultations on smartphones. In so doing, MOH seeks to employ cutting-edge technologies to enhance effective communication with service-beneficiaries , and to allow them get the needed specialized medical consultations.

According to MOH, the first stage of using the new App. will cover Northern Borders, Asir, Tabuk, Jazan, Najran and Al-Jouf Health Affairs. Then, the App. will be used across the Kingdom, by Allah's Leave.

The App. is designed to enable audio-video communication from 9 a.m. to 12 a.m. during working days, as well as weekends from 1 p.m. to 12 a.m. Accordingly, users can login into the application, communicate directly with a specialist, and have their cases diagnosed through the application. Hence, the specialist answers users' inquiries, provide the needed medical consultation and the necessary medical procedure.
