MOH Issues a Press Release on Halima’s Health Condition
21 January 2014
In reference to the news published on a TV channel and some websites about the suffering of the patient “Halima Gh. M.”, and claims that the Ministry of Health (MOH) has rejected to implement the gracious Royal Decree with regard to her treatment, the MOH would like to point out that this patient has been suffering from a kidney failure and she is in need for renal transplantation.

In their endeavor to prevent organ trafficking, the Kingdom and most of the world’s countries, such USA and European countries, require the donor of the kidney to be one of the patient's relatives.

By virtue of the Royal Decree, the Supreme Medical Authority has issued a resolution on 20/4/2012 (corresponding to 9/6/1433H), stipulating to refer the patient to a Chinese hospital to conduct a renal transplant there at the expense of the state. However, Halima did not come back to complete the procedures.

Within the same vein, the MOH calls upon all mass media to make sure of the inaccurate news before publishing them.
