23 July 2012
For the eighth consecutive year, the MOH Media Information and Health Awareness Center has launched a health-awareness program in Ramadan, called: “Your Health in Ramadan”, under the theme: “Make Ramadan Healthy and Balanced”. The program is intended to highlight the importance of taking the prescribed medicines in this holy month, and provide medical tips and consultations.

Every day in Ramadan, the Center will be interviewing doctors specialized in various medical specialties, to receive people's questions and inquiries through the toll-free number, and social networks (Twitter) from 1 to 3 pm.
Last Saturday, Ramadan 2nd, the Center interviewed Dr. Majdah Berhaimen, a consultant physician of kidney diseases. She answered people's questions and inquiries revolving around kidney patients' fasting in Ramadan, the effect of soda water on the kidneys, the polycystic kidney disease and its treatment, as well as many other questions.

On Sunday, Ramadan 3rd, the Center made an interview with Dr. Safeyah Al-Sherbini, an oncologist and diabetes consultant, on how to change the diabetes dosing system in Ramadan, and how to adjust the blood-sugar level during Ramadan's day-time, as well as many other questions on the causes, symptoms and treatment of diabetes.

On Monday, the Center interviewed Dr. Abdulelah Al-Twairki, an optician, and the Director of King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital. Most questions revolved on Lasik eye surgeries and their complications, eye inflammation, tear duct obstruction, and the causes of the dry eye.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, the MOH Media Information and Health Awareness Center will be interviewing Dr. Tarik Al-Khowaiter, an internal medicine consultant. Besides, the Center will interview a constellation of doctors specialized in various medical specialties over the coming three weeks, and receive people's questions and inquiries through the center's toll-free number: 8002494444, and the social network (Twitter).

It is worth noting that the Ministry of Health (MOH) has recently launched a comprehensive health-awareness campaign called: “Your Health in Ramadan”, under the theme: “Make Ramadan Healthy and Balanced”. Within the framework of this campaign, numerous health-awareness programs will be presented and aired on radio and TV channels, and inside health facilities, aside from the online campaign.
