The Ministry of Health launched the first edition of the Saudi Walking League (Walk 30 League). It will start on March 11, as part of the “Walk 30” campaign, one of the Ministry’s initiatives that contribute to achieving the health transformation goals in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which aims to promote public health and motivate society to adopt healthier and more active lifestyles.
The ministry indicated that registration and formation of the participating teams will begin from March 8 to 11, and each team can consist of 4 to 7 people. The competitions will officially start from March 11 to 15, and participants must commit to walking daily for 30 minutes, equivalent to 8,000 steps.
The ministry stated that the league will conclude with an honoring ceremony on April 26, to celebrate community efforts to promote the culture of walking in the Kingdom. This day which coincides with the launch of the fifth edition of the “Walk 30” event. The ministry also confirmed that a raffle will be held for valuable prizes for registered participants through the “Sehhaty” application, urging all interested individuals and teams to register and participate through the platform.
The first edition of the Saudi Walking League “Walk 30 League” comes as part of the Ministry of Health’s efforts to promote preventive healthcare and raise awareness of the importance of physical activity, not only to improve public health, but also to prevent chronic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes and improve mental health by reducing stress and enhancing quality of life.
It is noteworthy that the “Walk 30” campaign aims to promote public health and encourage society to adopt more active lifestyles. This will contribute to building a more vibrant, healthy and sustainable society, and raising the average life expectancy to 80 years by 2030.
Over the four Editions, the “Walk 30” campaign has contributed to motivating different age groups to actively participate in the community and raise awareness of the importance of physical activity. This league comes as a continuation of these efforts, and an affirmation of the Ministry’s commitment to achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which aims to build a healthy society.
