08 November 2011
Pursuing its relentless efforts intended to make available of the best and fullest healthcare for the 'guests of Allah', the Emergency and Field Medicine Committee has provided in-place ambulatory services for 3.015 pilgrims over the 24 hours of the first day of Eid Al-Adha day.
This was made known by Dr. Tariq bin Salem Al-Arnous, Director-General of Emergency and Head of Emergency and Field Medicine Committee, who explained that filed medical teams have handled 3.015 cases from 1 am on 10/12/1432H (6/11/2011) to 1 am on 11/12/1432H (7/11/2011).
He went on to say that 2.889 cases have been provided in-place urgent curative services, whereas 126 cases have been transmitted to the MOH hospitals spread out in the Holy Places. The great bulk of cases (2765) could be classified as normal cases, he added, as opposed to 129 respiratory crisis cases, 15 heat exhaustion cases, 7 falling cases, 38 burning cases, 22 fainting cases, 27 heart attack cases, 5 running over cases, 10 bleeding cases, and 6 coma cases.

It is worth mentioning that the Emergency and Field Medicine Committee has assigned 175 medical teams to the provision of ambulatory services. They are distributed to the ambulances serving in the Holy Places (80 small ambulances to function as portable intensive care units, and 95 big ambulances to transmit patients among the hospitals and health care of Makkah and the Holy Places). These medical teams are staffed by 350 doctors and technicians, working around the clock. It is largely believed that theses medical teams are very skillful and proficient at handling all emergency cases and making the right decision in critical circumstances.
