02 November 2011
Page Content
In preparation for the providing high-quality health services for Hajj pilgrims, the Ministry of Health makes every effort and works in full swing. This is evidently manifested in preparation and inauguration of a number of hospitals and health centers in the Holy Sites.
In this spirit, Mena Hospital (Al-Shari' Al-Jadid) has inaugurated a new and integrated unit for digestive endoscopy, to be added to the Hospital's units divisions working in this Hajj season (1432H).
Dr. Ahmed bin Moussa Al-Maliki, director of the hospital, has pointed out that the Digestive System Division is reckoned one of the Hospital's most active divisions, as it is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of digestive diseases, including severe and epidemic diseases, by means of upper and lower endoscopy, as well as the preemptive diagnosis of colon tumors, both benign and malignant.
Al-Maliki further explained that the introduction of this unit reflects the Ministry's keen interest, under His Excellency the Minister of Health's follow-up, in the provision of integrated medical services for pilgrims, safely and easily, in compliance with the directions given be the Governors – May Allah protect them – to offer the best and fullest medical services for the guests of Allah.
According to Dr. Ahmed Al-Maliki, the most important of the duties assigned to the Digestive System Division is the treatment of stomach and duodenum bleeding ulcers (by injecting them) and removing colon appendix, in addition to performing the surgeries of bile duct endoscopy for patients suffering blockage of bile ducts and patients with bile, resulting from the tumors of pancreas and bile ducts.
Dr. Al-Maliki has also revealed that the Endoscopy Unit was enhanced with experienced and highly qualified consultants in the field of digestive diseases.
Concluding his statement, Dr. Ahmed bin Moussa Al-Maliki affirmed that the introduction of this unit will be very effective in reducing the number of medical conditions that had formerly needed to be transmitted for another hospital; which was another suffering for the patient, owing to the overcrowding on the roads leading up to the other hospital, being in the center of the camps.
