The Minister of Health, H.E. Fahad Abdulrahman AlJalajel, has concluded his participation in the 72nd Session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean, hosted in Cairo, Egypt, from October 15 to 17. The gathering brought together regional health leaders to advance collaboration and strengthen health systems across the Eastern Mediterranean.
Throughout the session, AlJalajel held a series of constructive bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Egypt, Pakistan, and Iran, focusing on ways to enhance coordination to ensure equitable access to healthcare, bolster emergency preparedness, and accelerate efforts to eliminate polio across the region.
He also met with Dr. Hanan Balkhy, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, to discuss transformative health solutions, universal health coverage, and the Kingdom’s role in building resilient and sustainable health systems.
During the Executive Sponsors’ Meeting of the Polio Legacy Challenge Initiative, AlJalajel reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s unwavering commitment to supporting global and regional efforts to eradicate polio and enhance the quality of life for future generations.
