In a milestone achievement on the global stage, the World Health Organization and the UN Interagency Task Force on Non-Communicable Diseases awarded the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia the prestigious 2025 Task Force Award. The honor, presented to the Ministry of Health during the Task Force’s 10th annual meeting in New York alongside the UN General Assembly, underscores the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, building a vibrant society where health and quality of life go hand in hand.
The accolade celebrates Saudi Arabia’s bold and innovative policies to combat obesity and chronic diseases. Among these are groundbreaking investments in digital health, including the Sehhaty platform and the world’s largest Virtual Health Hospital, as well as community-driven initiatives like the Healthy Cities Program and the “Walk 30” campaign, which has inspired over one million citizens to embrace daily physical activity. Forward-looking nutritional reforms, such as taxing sugary drinks, eliminating industrial trans fats, and establishing the Ministerial Committee for Health in All Policies, further highlight the Kingdom’s holistic approach to public health.
This international recognition not only reflects the rapid transformation of the Saudi health sector but also cements the Kingdom’s leadership in advancing global health. By championing public health, enhancing service quality, and driving international collaboration, Saudi Arabia is making a lasting impact on the worldwide mission to prevent non-communicable diseases and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals for health and well-being.
