Al-Jalajel Participates in GCC Health Ministers Meetings in Muscat

His Excellency the Minister of Health, Mr. Fahd bin Abdul Rahman Al-Jalajel, participates in the ninth meeting of the GCC Health Ministers Committee, and the eighty-sixth meeting of the GCC Health Ministers Council in its forty-eighth session, Sunday, the first of October 2023, in the Omani capital, Muscat. The ninth meeting of the Health Ministers Committee comes within the efforts of the GCC countries to enhance joint cooperation in the field of health in order to develop the provision of health services in a way that reflects excellence in keeping pace with the rapid progress in the field of technology (Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence), and joint work to develop the health sector system in the GCC countries.The meeting discussed many topics that stressed the importance of enhancing integration in specialized services among the GCC countries by utilizing the excellence centers at the Gulf level, to ensure exchange of services and enhance joint cooperation in treating medical cases, and benefiting from distinguished experiences in providing healthcare services, which will be reflected on achieving a positive impact in strengthening the health system and improving the quality of services provided. The meeting also addressed the importance of activating virtual clinics between different specialties in hospitals with rare specialties among GCC countries.The meeting also discussed several health topics and issues of concern to the GCC and their people, with many decisions taken therein. On the other hand, the eighty-sixth meeting of the GCC and Yemen Health Ministers the meeting was held, where many health topics and fields were discussed, including the adoption of the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control plan for 2024. The collaborative work mechanism (Al-Tawasul) with the GCC and Yemen Health Ministries was also approved. The meeting issued many important decisions, as it was decided to approve the updates to the regulations for the expatriate screening program (Wafid), the new item coding system in the unified purchasing program, the Gulf regulations for registering medical devices and supplies and manufacturing companies. Moreover, the meeting approved resolution on updating the inspection mechanism for factories, pharmaceutical and veterinary products, and medical supplies and equipment factories, as well as adopting the central classification certificate form, and approving the update of the drug pricing form for the reference countries in the Health Council. These two meetings come within the framework of promoting the joint Gulf action in the health field in an effort to develop the health sector system of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and in implementation of the directives of Their Majesties and Highnesses, leaders of the GCC countries - may Allah bless them - towards advancing the process of cooperation and joint work to improving the health sector in the council states, for serving the member states and meeting the aspirations of their people. It is worth noting that the ninth meeting of the Committee of Their Excellencies Health Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council held its previous (eighth) session in Riyadh, where a number of topics of mutual interest were discussed.​
