https://www.moh.gov.sa/Ministry/MediaCenter/News/PublishingImages/2023-08-18-004.jpgHealth ministers at the G20 meeting yesterday, Saturday, launched the Global Initiative of Digital Health (GIDH), during the meeting held in India, in cooperation with the World Health Organization.
Through this initiative, the World Health Organization seeks to support the implementation of the Global Digital Health Strategy 2020-2025. The initiative contributes to unifying standards, global best practices, and resources to accelerate transformation of the digital health system. The initiative also aims to achieve measurable results.
Dr. Tedros, WHO Chief, also thanked the G20 and India's presidency of the G20, to support WHO's technical role in this field, and to support the establishment of the new GIDH network.
Indian Health Minister, Dr Mansuk Mandavya said: "Today is a historic day in the history of the G20 for health work, as the G20 countries not only recognized the importance of this field, but also worked together towards launching it."
For his part, His Excellency Minister of Health, Mr. Fahd bin Abdul Rahman Al-Jalajel, thanked the Indian Presidency in his speech during the launch of the initiative for continuing work on digital health issues, which began during the Kingdom's presidency in the year 2020. His Excellency's participation in the launch of the initiative comes at the invitation of the Indian Presidency to talk about the health digital transformation and artificial intelligence that the Kingdom is witnessing, including: SEHA Virtual Hospital, and the Kingdom's qualitative experience in this field.
The initiative also presented the World Bank report, which highlighted that technology and data are an essential part of daily life, and that healthcare systems face increasing demands to provide new services to reach everyone, and everywhere.
