His Excellency the Minister of Health, Head of the Health Sector Transformation Program, Mr. Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al-Jalajil, thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may Allah bless them, for the approval of the Council of Ministers - in principle - to transform King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital to an independent non-profit institution owned by the Royal Commission of the City of Riyadh. His Excellency said, "This approval comes within the framework of the continuous interest and support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for the process of transformation in the health sector, which aims to restructure and upgrade health services to provide the best services to citizens, residents and all those on the homeland. This decision comes within the process of health transformation and restructuring of the sector, after it was preceded by the decision to transform King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center into a non-profit institution and the decision to establish the Health Holding Company. This decision also comes in support of research, development and innovation efforts in the health sector by establishing a research center linked to King Khaled Eye Specialist hospital. It is worth noting that the Health Transformation Program has accomplished a number of initiatives and projects that had a noticeable impact and some of them contributed to confronting the pandemic, such as the establishment of the Public Health Authority (Weqaya), the National Center for Emergency Crisis, the National Health Laboratory, and the Command and Control Center. The Health Transformation Program also contributed to launching qualitative initiatives, including launching of the Virtual Health Hospital, the Patient Safety Center, the Digital Health Transformation, and other initiatives aimed at developing the health sector system in the Kingdom to become a comprehensive and effective system to achieve the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and reach a vibrant society whose members enjoy a full and healthy life.
