17 June 2021

The Ministry of Health (MOH) announced that a high COVID immunization rate has been achieved among older adults (60 years and above). The immunization rates reached 98% in Hafr Al-Batin, 93% in Al-Ahsa, 93% in Al-Qurayyat, 86% in Bisha, 83% in Riyadh, 80% in the Eastern Region, and 80% in Taif. It added that these percentages were achieved after vaccinating this group with at least one dose.

Since the start of the nationwide vaccination campaign, MOH has targeted the older people as one of the priority groups, and launched the Awlawia (priority) service for citizens and residents over the age of 75 without registration, appointment, or waiting by visiting the nearest vaccination center across the Kingdom. The ministry called on everyone to obtain the COVID-19 vaccine by registering on the “Sehaty” application, stressing that the approved vaccines in the Kingdom are effective and safe.
