MOH: COVID-19 Vaccines Highly Safe, Incidence Rate Declining Again

MOH spokesman, Dr. Mohammad Al-Abdulaali, said that the curve of the positive COVID-19 cases is dropping again due to community awareness, wishing to move in the positive directions through increasing demand for the vaccine and compliance with the precautionary measures. The vaccines are highly safe and the reluctance to take them is dangerous. 

He said that there is an increasing turnout for the vaccine and more than 2 billion vaccine doses were administered worldwide. He reiterated the importance of adhering to social distancing and keeping safe distances during social events, pointing out that the vaccine reduces the risk of infection. It also reduces the severity of illness. 

Al-Abdulaali revealed that 14,852,246 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been received through over 590 vaccination centers across the Kingdom.

He said that there are many misconceptions about vaccines, becoming very popular among people. Dr. Al-Abdulaali warned against spreading such information, stressing that a COVID-19 infection is extremely dangerous contrary to the circulating rumors.  He revealed that 984 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the Kingdom, bringing the total confirmed cases to 457,546, including 9,446 active cases and 1,545 critical cases.
 
During the press conference he held today (Sunday), the spokesman said that 1,185 new recoveries have been recorded, bringing the total number to 440,644 recoveries. Also, 16 new deaths have been reported; bringing the total deaths to 7,456.
