The Ministry of Health (MOH) has launched today the “Walk Challenge” competition via “Sehaty” app, with the participation of more than 300,000 competitors so far. The competition aims to promote the culture of walking as a healthy habit. The competition mechanism includes downloading the "Sehaty" app, registering for the challenge, and then working to achieve the daily target of step count (8,000 steps per day). The total prizes amount to 200 every month. An electronic draw will be made every week to select 50 winners who have achieved the daily walking target. Winners will be announced via the “Live Well” platform on Twitter.
It is noteworthy that walking helps reduce the level of harmful cholesterol, burn extra calories, maintain joint flexibility and muscle strength, reduce anxiety and depression, improve mood, promote bone health, prevent osteoporosis, improve balance and blood flow in the body, and maintain a healthy weight and improve physical fitness. It also helps prevent chronic diseases such as heart disease, hypertension, and type 2 diabetes.
These awareness-raising activities come in a continuation of the MOH’s endeavors to maintain the individuals’ health and well-being and encouraging them to embrace a healthy lifestyle.
