Madinah: Over 67,000 Home Medical Visits Conducted in 2020

​According to Madinah Health Affairs, over the past year (2020), the Home Medicine Program has conducted 67,065 home visits, benefiting 36,000 patients enrolled in the program. 


“The program provides continuous and comprehensive health care and follow-up for patients, whose critical health conditions prevent them access to healthcare facilities, at their places of residence. Annually, more than 70,000 patients are served by the program," stated the Affairs.


It is noteworthy that MOH provides the home medicine program services through qualified medical teams at several hospitals and medical cities across the Kingdom. The services are provided to patients with the engagement of their families as per approved standards.


Moreover, the health services provided by the home medicine program include comprehensive medical and nursing care, following-up bed-ridden patients and the elderly and their chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory problems, injury care, bedsore, tubes, catheters, intravenous therapy, palliative care, and care for patients with psychiatric and neurological diseases, in addition to providing physical therapy service, respiratory therapy, clinical nutrition, and social services. The other main services include health education for patients and their families. They are not restricted to health, psychological and social services only. They also include the provision of medical supplies and devices and medicines needed by the patients.
