The Saudi Electronic University has honored the heroes for health who are martyrs to the COVID-19 pandemic, at its headquarters in Riyadh today (Sunday). The honoring ceremony was attended by the University President, Dr. Lilak Al-Safadi and the Deputy Minister of Health for Human Resources, Mr. Abdul Rahman Al-Aiban.
Dr. Al-Safadi has announced allocation of a scholarship for 100 male and female students, children of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the COVID-19 pandemic. Addressing the ceremony, she congratulated the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, his Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, may Allah protect them, and Saudi people on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the national day.
“This occasion comes amid extraordinary circumstances witnessed in the Kingdom to link the past with the present and to proceed with the journey of giving and sacrifices by loyal men and women, including the heroes for health who are at the frontlines in the fight against the pandemic. Those who sacrificed their lives to pandemic and enabled us to live with security, health and welfare”, she said.
She added, “We are here today to celebrate the national day thanks to the efforts exerted by the government in fighting the pandemic and to your mothers and fathers who spare no effort to protect our life and health”.
She extended her thank and gratitude to our wise leadership and to the ministry of education for its keenness to continue transformation of the general and university education into the electronic education. She also lauded the role plying by the ministry of health to protect the citizens and residents and care for the sons of health martyrs.
In his speech, the Deputy Minister of Health said, “I am proud to participate in honoring MOH’s martyrs and their sons. The martyrs have sacrificed their lives in the fight against the pandemic for the sake of their country and the health and safety of citizens and residents”
He extended his thanks to the president and staff of the Saudi Electronic University for such noble initiative, praying for Almighty Allah to forgive the martyrs and make their abode in Paradise, and to preserve our country, its leaders and peoples, and to perpetuate the grace of security and stability.
At the end of the ceremony, the President of the University and the Deputy Minister of Health has presented the children of the martyrs of health with souvenirs on this occasion. Also, Dr. Lailak has handed over an honorary shield to Mr. Al-Aiban and memorial pictures were taken.
