Critical COVID-19 Cases Down 5.5%, MOH Says

​The Assistant Minister of Health and MOH spokesman, Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdulaali, said that the ministry is still witnessing a decrease in critical COVID-19 cases, with a 5.5 percent drop during the current period. He pointed out that the community members’ commitment to the precautionary measures contributed to the decline in the recorded cases. He revealed that 1,428 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the Kingdom, bringing the total cases to 288,690. These include 33,484 active cases, still receiving medical care. Their health conditions are mostly stable, with the exception of 1,816 critical cases.


Al-Abdulaali made this statement during the COVID-19 briefing held today, Sunday. He mentioned that the number of new recoveries has amounted to 1,599, bringing the total recoveries to date to 252,039. And 37 new deaths were reported, bringing the total deaths to 3,167. He said that the COVID-19 testing in the Kingdom has amounted to 3,813,274.

 “Following stability in the rate of the critical cases witnessed few weeks ago, MOH has seen a slight increase over the past days due to some social gatherings during Eid Al-Adha holidays”, he mentioned.
He confirmed that a COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial will be carried out soon. He indicated that there is no evidence that people who have recovered from COVID-19 are protected from a second infection. 

MOH reiterated that anyone, who has symptoms or wants an assessment, can use the self-assessment service on «Mawid» app or visit one of the 237 (Tetamman) clinics devoted by MOH to serving the individuals with COVID-19 symptoms. Those, who have questions, can also inquire or seek advice by calling the 937-Service Center, available 24/7. The Center is now made closer to everyone than ever. The public can also benefit from its interactive services through WhatsApp app. on the number 920005937. They can have access to health information and updates on COVID-19. The service also provides users with information on blood donation and primary health care centers (PHCs). Besides, it enables them to reserve appointments.
