Major Energy Companies Support Health Endowment Fund with over SAR 500 Million
01 April 2020

The Minister of Health and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Health Endowment Fund, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah thanked the Ministry of Energy (MOE), as well as the major Saudi oil, gas, renewable energy, electricity and petrochemicals companies for their initiative to support the ongoing national health endeavors.

This initiative, the Minister said, comes in response to the comprehensive speech delivered by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Saudi people, in which he called for backing the national health efforts put in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic. It also responds to the directives given by HRH Crown Prince, and his close follow-up to the cooperation and coordination among the government agencies in this respect. This initiative culminated in supporting the Health Endowment Fund, which created an account for the control of COVID-19, with SAR 525 million. The fund, which was established by the Council of Ministers’ decision no. 353 in 1440H, has a legal personality. Its key objective is to encourage the community contribution to supporting the government’s health development efforts.

Al-Rabiah reiterated that this support comes within the framework of strenuous, unstinting efforts exerted by the Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz who leads the colossal efforts of both the public and private sectors in the fight against the pandemic.

The rigorous response of the MOE companies, and the companies contracting with them, has culminated in this voluntary support package, Dr. Al-Rabiah said. “This support from the Saudi private sector comes as no surprise,” he added. “It has always shown keen interest in reinforcing community initiatives. This stems from its sense of responsibility towards our beloved country, its keen interest in supporting the government’s efforts, and its appreciation for the efforts made by the healthcare providers to suppress the spread of the virus.”

Concluding his statement, Dr. Tawfik Al-Rabiah stressed that the support of the MOE and its subsidiaries is highly appreciated.
