MOH Signs Cooperation Agreement with KACST

​In the presence of the Health Minister, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah and President of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), Dr. Anas bin Faris Al-Faris, MOH and KACST will sign today (Thursday) cooperation agreement to conduct researches and transfer technology on early detection of genetic diseases in the Kingdom through the premarital screening, with the aim of providing the best health services and preventing the spread of genetic diseases.​

The agreement comes as part of the projects of the Saudi Human Genome Program (SHGP), which was launched by the Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz to curb genetic diseases and reduce healthcare costs in order to positively enhance the public health and national economy.  

According to the agreement, MOH and KACST will enhance cooperation in the field of joint researches and capability building as per the approved specifications. Also, molecular biology will replace traditional medical diagnostic tests.
