Hail General Hospital: Average Length of Stay for Patients Reduced to 60%
10 December 2018

By Allah’s Grace, through the implementation of MOH’s Performance Program «Adaa’», Hail General Hospital has successfully improved procedures of its Inpatient Treatment Plan, which contributed to reducing the average length of stay (ALOS) in the hospital from 4.7 to 2.8 days (with an improvement rate of 60%).

It is worth mentioning that MOH is currently implementing «Adaa’» Program, which covers 70 main hospitals across the Kingdom so far. The program features over 40 indicators to measure the performance of seven key therapeutic aspects, including emergency, clinics, surgeries, hospitalization, ICU, radiology and laboratories. The program aims to develop the skills of health professionals to use the indicators, to identify performance improvement potentials, and to boost productivity, performance quality and efficiency of health services in hospitals.

These steps come in line with MOH's efforts to achieve one of its objectives in the National Transformation Program (NTP) 2020, in terms of improving the health care provided before hospitalization and at emergency and ICU departments of main hospitals. Also, this goal, which is associated with one of the goals of the Saudi Vision 2030, is to improve the quality of both preventive and therapeutic healthcare services.
